Once you find the correct points, hold your middle fingers at a 90-degree angle to the skin. Press gently at first, then gradually increase pressure till you feel a mild (not painful) sensation. Tenderness indicates a lack of balance in the area.

Either hold a steady pressure for 10 – 30 seconds, or up to two minutes, or alternately apply and release accupressure points. For best results, acupressure treatments should be done regularly, daily if possible.

- Use a light touch on accupressure points on the stomach, sensitive areas on the throat, below the ear, or the outer breast near the arm pits.

- Delay treatments for an hour after eating to avoid nausea.

- Be sure your fingernails are clean and smooth before doing treatments!

- Stay relaxed and comfortable, keeping your breathing deep and relaxed.

- Apply pressure to the accupressure points when you exhale except in cases of swelling or extreme pain, when it should be applied as you inhale.
